Good question - it does matter! Where you buy your topsoil, and where the material is sourced from, can make a big difference in the quality of the product and the nutrients it contains. KC Topsoil product can be used for leveling holes in a yard, filling sunken areas around foundations due to settlement, fostering raised gardening beds, forming landscaping features, etc. Where you buy your topsoil from will also dictate when and how you get your delivery. Using a pulverizer on soil breaks up large or dense clumps. Pulverized topsoil is finer, looser soil (no clumps or clods) recommended for manipulating it by hand (for use with shovels or rakes). This allows the soil to be spread it out in a variety of thicknesses and easily manipulated into varying depths. If you're in Kansas City and are ordering topsoil to be used with a larger machine, the machine may be able to do the work for you. Non-pulverized topsoil could include clumps up to the size of basketballs, which can be more useful for something like a small or medium construction project, or a larger surface area where you plan on using a machine to spread.

To calculate the cubic yards of topsoil you need for your project, simply multiply the length, width, and depth (in feet) and divide that by 27. You may choose to account for material compacting to ensure you have the correct amount of topsoil for your project, which can occur after delivery by a factor of 15-20%.

KC Topsoil's minimum quantity to purchase is ten cubic yards.
